Aliza Karney Guren
ALIZA KARNEY GUREN
Chief Executive Officer
Aliza Karney Guren is the Chief Executive Officer and co-owner of Karney Properties. She assumed her position in 2003 and sets the overall strategy for the company. She is also directly involved in all key areas of the company’s activities, including development, finance, acquisitions and dispositions and asset management.
She has spent more than 20 years in the real estate industry, including related experience in law and mediation. Prior to joining the company in 1991, she was a practicing attorney and mediator, and founded and directed an independent nonprofit arts organization.
Aliza Guren, a California-licensed general contractor, is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks. She is also a board member of the Center Theatre Group, one of the nation’s largest and most active theater companies. In 2014, she was named one of Bisnow’s top 60 women in Los Angeles commercial real estate.
Aliza Guren earned a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Harvard University, where she also earned a law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School. She is a member of the State Bar of California.
Susanna Karney Flaster
SUSANNA KARNEY FLASTER
Susanna Karney Flaster is Principal and co-owner of Karney Properties. She joined the company in 1991 and has been actively involved in management oversight, operational strategy and financial planning since 2003.
Active in San Diego civic affairs, Susanna Flaster serves on the boards of directors of the Jewish Community Foundation San Diego, San Diego Museum of Art and Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest.
Susanna Flaster earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard University and a master’s degree in communication disorders from Northwestern University.
Vice President of Development
As Vice President of Development, Mr. Yasmer has responsibility for all development and redevelopment projects within the portfolio. Prior to joining Karney Properties, Mr. Yasmer served 12 years at Forest City Realty Trust, a publicly-traded real estate investment trust that owns, operates and develops urban, mixed-use projects. His various roles included managing the acquisition, entitlement, design and construction of a $140 million mixed-use residential project in downtown Los Angeles, masterplanning, marketing, and developing commercial properties at the 4,600-acre redevelopment of the former Stapleton airport in Denver, as well as working exclusively and directly for the co-Chairman of the Board on corporate strategic planning and new site acquisition.
Mr. Yasmer received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and was a member of the Men’s Division I-A golf team.
Chief Operating Officer
As the Chief Operating Officer of Karney Properties, David Lauletta is responsible for the operational and day-to-day management of the organization.
Mr. Lauletta brings to Karney Properties a demonstrated history spanning 30+ years in the real estate industry. Prior to joining Karney, he has held senior level positions at both commercial and residential real estate companies including Comstock Development, Shea Homes, Woodridge Capital and Calmark Properties. During his career, Mr. Lauletta has directed and managed numerous real estate portfolios in the areas of feasibility, acquisition, disposition, property management, development, construction and finance.
David Lauletta graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, is a certified public accountant and licensed real estate broker. He served as a board member for the Industry of America’s Los Angeles/Ventura region, the Vice Chair of the City of Moorpark Planning Commission, coached tennis for the Special Olympics and coached soccer for the American Youth Soccer organization.
